Fresno Yosemite International Airport to
Conduct Triennial Emergency Exercise
Fresno, CA (May 27, 2024) – Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) will be conducting its Triennial Emergency Exercise on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, 8:00 a.m. to approximately 1:00 p.m. Required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the exercise tests airfield disaster preparedness and response by simulation of a full-scale emergency and provides the opportunity to test components of the Airport’s Emergency Plan.
This crucial exercise ensures the readiness of Airport first responders and provides an opportunity to prepare for an incident with airline, Airport, and agency partners as well as mutual aid fire and police agencies.
Normal airport and aircraft operations will continue during the exercise. Flight operations at FAT will continue as usual during the exercise with no impact on arriving or departing flights.
There will be no media or public access to the exercise. During the full-scale event, a Bombardier CRJ aircraft, numerous emergency vehicles and first responders and volunteers role-playing injuries will possibly be observed. Simulated radio communication of an emergency nature may be heard.
Video and photos will be shared with the media following the event. FAT is taking proactive measures to inform passengers and the public about the ongoing activity. Signage will be displayed in the lobby and boarding gate areas. Banners will be placed at various locations around FAT’s perimeter. These banners and signs will indicate that an exercise is in progress.
The safety and security of passengers, Airport staff and the community is FAT’s highest priority. The Triennial Emergency Exercise ensures FAT’s commitment to safety.
